Better Bus Service is Coming to the Westside!
The City of West Hollywood is partnering with neighboring Westside cities to plan bus speed and reliability improvements ahead of the LA28 Olympic and Paralympic Games, and we want to hear from YOU!
The Westside Cities Council of Governments (WSCCOG) is leading the Westside Bus Connection Program, a "quick-build" initiative to enhance the bus rider experience along three of the Westside's busiest corridors, including La Cienega Boulevard right here in West Hollywood.
Your input will help shape early design concepts and ensure the project reflects our community's needs.
Overview
The Westside Bus Connection Program aims to deliver bus infrastructure upgrades to the Westside's busiest corridors by late 2027, in time for the 2028 Games.
The project is focused on three segments:
- Santa Monica Boulevard (west of Beverly Hills)
- Sepulveda Boulevard (between UCLA and Westchester)
- La Cienega Boulevard and Jefferson Boulevard (West Hollywood to Westchester)
These are among the busiest corridors in the region, and improvements could provide long-term benefits for riders while preparing the Westside for an estimated influx of visitors during LA28.
What's Being Considered
Proposed design concepts may include:
- Dedicated and/or peak-hour bus lanes
- Transit signal upgrades
- Curb and striping modifications
- Pedestrian and cyclist safety improvements
- Bus pad improvements at select stops
Depending on the alternative selected, improvements on La Cienega Boulevard could result in replacing or repurposing travel lanes, parking lanes, or center turn lanes all the time or during peak hours only (e.g., 7–9 a.m. and 4–7 p.m.) and in both directions or southbound only in West Hollywood, Beverly Hills, and/or the City of Los Angeles.
Get Involved
There are two ways to share your input on the Westside Bus Connection Program:
1. Attend a community workshop: the WSCCOG is hosting three workshops in June 2026 — two in person and one virtual — to share design alternatives and gather your feedback. See the Upcoming Workshops section on the right for dates, locations, and registration details. Spanish interpretation will be available at all meetings.
2. Take the online survey: Can't make it to a workshop? The Westside Bus Connection Program survey is open now. Your feedback will help inform design concepts and guide improvements that aim to make travel faster, safer, and more reliable on La Cienega Boulevard and across the Westside.
