Project Overview
This project aims to present the draft results of a historic context statement and historic resources survey of West Hollywood properties zoned Multi-family R2, R3, and R4 as a critical tool for understanding, identifying, evaluating, and protecting those resources which give West Hollywood its individual character and sense of place. The City worked with GPA Consulting (GPA) to prepare the project in two phases.
Phase 1: Phase 1 included the draft Historic Context Statement, completed in October of 2020. The revision and update of the context statement was in response to comments from the City and the Ad-Hoc Committee of the Historic Preservation Commission and the results of previous surveys.
Phase 2: The reconnaissance survey included over 2,000 properties in the Multi-family Residential R2, R3, and R4 zones constructed before 1984. GPA prepared new intensive-level evaluations for properties identified as potentially eligible during the survey process. The Survey also included updates to various evaluations for properties previously evaluated in 2008.
